About Me

David has an accounting background. He worked as an Auditor with a multinational firm before joining one of their clients. Left to get into the forestry business.
He successfully ran a logging operation on contract for a government owned timber company in Trinidad.
In Canada, he joined Laurentian Financial Services (now part of Desjardins Financial Security). There he gained broad experience over almost seven years in general strategic planning, being licensed to provide Mutual Funds, Home and Auto Insurance, and Life, Sickness and Accident Insurance.
He has written numerous articles and reported for his Professional Association's Journal on industry issues. He has an Elder Planning Counselor designation, and has published his own client newsletter, Money Trends Just over 12 years ago he joined Keybase Financial Group, an Independent Mutual Fund and Insurance Brokerage. This allowed him to broaden the range of services he offered as an independent broker working solely for his clients' interests.
He subsequently moved to HUB Capital Inc. the investment arm of the HUB International Group of companies and also became a Mortgage Consultant. He left to join a small Mutual Fund Brokerage. His move to Canfin Financial Group serves to further help him in his professional and business development.
With more than nineteen years of experience in the Financial Services industry, David brings innovative Financial Solutions into play for clients' long term Financial Security. When not working with his clients, he has contributed his time and energy to work in the community.
He has served on the Board of Naparima Alumni Association as an Executive Member advising them on fundraising and membership development and also on their Constitutional Review Committee. He has supported various community groups involved with the Arts. He is one of the founding members of The Caribbean Education Organization of Canada, which has endowed three awards at the University of Toronto to support students who wish to examine the contribution of Indians from and in the Caribbean.
He has worked as a volunteer at the annual Fashion Cares Gala held in Toronto, an event which raises over a million dollars a year in support of AIDS research. As a member of The Rotary Club of North Scarborough he has served as Director of the club's International Service Committee, Club Service Committee & as Foundation Director where he worked to educate members and the community about Rotary's charitable foundation, The Rotary Foundation, one of the largest charitable foundations in the world. He is the Club President for the 2010/2011 year.
He has Co-Chaired and served as a mentor and presented for Rotary's Camp Enterprise, which allows Grade 10 students from Scarborough schools to interact with and learn from professionals in the community about business and the working world. David has served as a director of Rotary District 7070 Gift Of Life program, which brings Third World children with life threatening heart problems to Toronto's renowned Hospital For Sick Children for care. He was also a member of Rotary District 7070 Polioplus Committee.
He has received two Paul Harris Fellowship Awards for his work in the Community and with Rotary.
He enjoys reading, films, music, and sampling Toronto's many fine restaurants.
